Happy Monday Everybody! I’ve got another Monday Mom Hack for ya! If you need some kids lunch ideas this mom hack post has some good ones!
Mom Hack #1: Prep Ahead for your kids lunches
Let’s face it, making lunches is a drag. I don’t know about you, but for me its just one more thing I have to think about, shop for, experiment with, prep, make and clean up. ugh. In fact, I dislike it so much that I usually choose to pay for hot lunch so I don’t have to make it. However, I still have one in preschool, and there are inevitably times when I don’t have the option for hot lunch. So, I’ve definitely researched lots of kids lunch ideas, and in this post I’ve got some cute ways to give your kids lunch a little extra pizzazz.
When making their lunches if we don’t have some sort of dinner leftovers that work I make them their favorite sandwich. I would say that’s the most time consuming part of the whole process. So I say why not make a whole bunch while you’ve got everything out? PB&Js freeze really well and so do most sandwiches if you go light on the condiments. Which as far as I know most kids aren’t huge mustard, mayo fans anyway. At least the youngers anyway. Since my five year old is in a huge PB&J rut I have been known to use an entire loaf of bread in one go. I just line em up, slap em together and pop em in the freezer!
This is super convenient if you’re in a rush, or your packing a bunch of stuff for an outing and are running short on time. There’s nothing worse than trying to get out of the house, I swear! I’m yelling after kids to get their shoes on, grabbing all our gear etc and then woops, realize that I still need to make lunches? What?!
Mom Hack #2: Use Tools!
Am I correct in saying that most kids don’t like crust? If you’re looking for a way to get your kids more excited about their lunch these sandwich cutters are the BEST! I’ve had mine for years! Plus, it speeds up the whole process.
I love Japanese bento boxes. The presentation is amazing. And c’mon, presentation is everything right? 😉 If you’re trying to get your kids excited about their lunch this idea is a great one. I found these vegetable cutters when my girlies were teeny and I still have them and LOVE THEM!
I also love both of these bento boxes for kids lunch ideas! How cute is that Panda?! And the Yumbox comes is great color combinations, and I love that it’s all one piece. You can just throw it in the dishwasher. No cleaning out tiny tupperware containers etc.

Mom Hack #3- Prep Breakfast too!
I generally like to make a hot breakfast for my kids when I can. I also like it to contain some protein and fat. Empty carbs and sugar like cereal and toast just doesn’t keep them full for very long. You can boil up a whole bunch of eggs and they will last a few days! I like em around so I can use them for snacks for myself too. I even throw them in salads. You can also do this with bacon. It reheats really well and this way you can serve a hot breakfast in just a few seconds! I also like to bake my bacon. I line a tray with foil and bake it for about 20-25 minutes at 400. Plus, this way you don’t stink up the house and create a huge greasy mess!
Feel free to leave me a message in the comments below, I’d love to know what your favorite kid lunch ideas are! Have a great week!
